The ICRC is an independent, neutral organization ensuring humanitarian protection and assistance for victims of armed conflict and other situations of violence. It takes action in response to emergencies and at the same time promotes respect for international humanitarian law and its implementation in national law.

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is looking for a candidate to fill in the following position:

Political Adviser
Place of Employment: Tel Aviv
Contract duration: 12 months (extendable)
Occupation rate: 100%
Starting Date: February 2025
Main responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Head of Delegation, the Political Adviser researches, analyses and advises the ICRC delegation on political developments and changes in the overall environment and conflict and security dynamics. S/he identifies, maintains and broadens a network of contacts at the national level and facilitates the management’s access to them. S/he initiates, formulates, and implements strategies to address identified issues and delegation objectives in the legal and political domain.
Education & professional experience
- Mater’s degree of specialization in international relations or political science.
- Excellent command of English and Hebrew.
- Proficient computer literacy.
- Minimum 5 years relevant experience in similar fields of activities.

- Familiarity with Israel’s political system and ability to lead and engage with relevant authorities.
- Capacity to work well with others, to demonstrate team spirit and to foster a conducive environment.
- Ability to create and maintain positive, professional working relationships with a wide range of people.
- Excellent analytical and planning skills.
- Ability to travel to the field regularly.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Experience working in a cross-cultural environment.
- Commitment to the Fundamental Principles of the Red Cross Movement.
- The ability to multi-task while concurrently manage multiple priorities.
- Flexible, creative, resourceful, and comfortable taking initiative.
- Strong sense of confidentiality.
